Jarrah Aburezq was born in the small Middle Eastern country of Kuwait and spent his early childhood in Montreal. He completed his Bachelor of Health Science Honors degree at the University of Calgary, majoring in biomedical sciences. He then stayed in Calgary to complete medical school, where he stumbled into Urology by chance at the beginning of his clinical years. He was drawn to Urology by its perfect blend of medicine and surgery as well as the wide variety and breadth the speciality has to offer. Leaning on his previous research experiences, Jarrah quickly became involved in multiple projects spanning both pediatric and adult Urology. With the expertise and guidance from various mentors including Dr. Fermin-Risso, Dr. Weber, and Dr. Kaler, Jarrah solidified Urology as the perfect speciality for him and UBC as the perfect place to become the best surgeon he can be.
Outside of medicine, Jarrah enjoys swimming, martial arts, cooking up a feast, and hiking, which he is excited to indulge in amongst the beautiful mountains that British Columbia has to offer.
