Ryan Yan was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and completed his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology and medical school, both at the University of British Columbia. As a “Vancouver lifer”, Ryan became interested in urology during his clinical years of medical school and enjoyed all of his urology elective weeks touring several hospitals around the Lower Mainland after working with the world-class surgeons and proficient trainees that UBC has to offer. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys cooking, dining, ice hockey and cycling, and is striving to be the Department’s next up-and-coming bike mechanic. He credits his family, friends, mentors, supervisors and co-residents for making the UBC Urology program an easy top choice, and is looking forward to enjoying this chapter of his life in the city he has always called home.
