Sahil Kumar

was born and raised in Mississauga, ON, where their parents and relatives settled when immigrating from India. Sahil completed a B.Sc and an M.Sc at McGill University in Montreal, QC (and learned a little French along the way). Their research interests in targeted prostate cancer therapies and involvement with the Movember Foundation brought Sahil to the west coast to work at the Vancouver Prostate Centre with Dr. Amina Zoubeidi. While in medical school at the University of British Columbia, they worked with the BC Gender Surgery Program and became involved in research that focused on improving the surgical outcomes of trans and gender-diverse patients with their mentor, Dr. Alex Kavanagh. Sahil is passionate about 2SLGBTQ+ healthcare and advocacy, and is engaged with queer community organisations in Vancouver, including TransCareBC, Health Initiative for Men, and AIDS Vancouver. They are thrilled to join the UBC Urology team and honoured to train under world-renowned surgeons and researchers!

When not in a hospital, you can usually find Sahil cooking/baking/grilling up a storm with their partner, on a patio with a hazy IPA, or overpacking for a trip to the Sunshine Coast.
